Mission

I will update this post tomorrow.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we just got back from a journey to two towns about 2.5 hours from here, where we did work. I am completely wiped, so I am passing out as I type this. I wanted to let you know that I will fill you in on the journey and the past week tomorrow. I will also be adding pictures asap (for my buddy Sam). Thank you all so much for your posts. You don't even realize how much each one of them means to me. Anyway, I can't hold my head up any longer. From the bottom of my heart, I love and miss you all!!!! I hope you had a wonderful Sunday morning in my most favorite place to be!!!!
Could somebody give Mrs. Billy a hug for me?

PS: Dad, I think I'm having mexican food withdrawals.

Mitch -

I had Mexican after church today even before I read your posting. I now know why I enjoyed it so much. I enjoyed it for both of us.

Our pastor and music minister asked me about you today and wanted me to tell you are in their prayers as well as those that are in the 24 hour prayer room at our church.

You are making such a positive impact for our Lord in a very distant land. You are a living example of Matthew 28:19-20.

I love you, my friend, and look forward to coming to Baton Rouge to see you and learn from you about your work there.

I think how blessed I am that my closet friend and his son are the two greatest Christians that I know.

Keep up the good work and I will see you in August.

Glad to see you're back online. I've missed reading your posts this week. I told your mom I even put a shortcut on my desktop to your blog page so I could get to it quickly.

Glad you're doing well. Hope you get some good rest before getting back to work.

We miss you and can't wait to hear more about your adventure.

Mitch...I'm making a HUGE commitment to show you how much I love you. I, Lindsay Silvio, will not have Mexican food until you come home in August. (Hmmm...I'm gonna try). Dude, we are going to tear up some white queso when you get back. I miss you so much! When we were on our cruise I kept thinking...yay...I'm one time zone closer to Mitch. I still miss you. :(

Love you so much~! Praying hard! I know that those kids just love you so much! You are the greatest!

Hey Mitchell,

It's thrilling to hear that the work is going so well, and that you are making the most of the ministry opportunities. About that Mexican food withdrawal thing - I've been there; and it's not pretty.

Something that might help: go to your My Space page, and relive that night when you and Matt ate some of Ken Alexanders really hot peppers. That might buy you a little time.

Can't wait to see those pics. Praying for you all the time. Jason D. played guitar this morning in the praise team. He did really well. You would have been proud.

So very proud of you for your courage and commitment to being salt and light, and taking seriously the great commission - to go into all the world with the gospel of Jesus.

I'm praying for the lives that you touch each day, that the boys and girls (and adults) will see Jesus in you, and will want to come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Praying that you have an awesome day. Tell Matt hello, and we're praying for him.

Love, Dad

Mitchell, 'And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.' We are continuing to pray for your spiritual and physical strength. Looking forward to hearing all about your experiences.

Mitchy, Mitchy, Mitch. Hope all is well in _________. I really love this 'unknown location' stuff. It is mildly amusing, but also reminds us all of the state of the rest of the world and what a privilege it is to live in America and be free to think and believe and worship how we feel.

Your mom she talked to you yesterday (Sunday) and that you sounded great! I am glad to hear things are going well and you are staying busy. I can't wait to hear more reports from, well, ________.(I love doing that).

I played my L. Benito 234 with the cutaway yesterday in church and it sounded pretty good. We did Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) in F and my wrist was quite tired from the F's and Bb's, but it was fun. I couldn't capo because of the key change at the end of the song or I would have played it with the E and open A's and B's in capo 1. It would have sounded better, I know.

Hope to hear more updates soon, sorry about the mexican food dilemma. I had Fernando's the other night, but I promise, I didn't enjoy it just for you!

Love you man.

Oh, and I hear cat tastes just like chicken. Don't be scared.

Hey Mitch!
Mrs. Wanda wrote a note Sunday and somehow it didn't publish. We're trying it again today. Hey - she's got things she wants to say!!!
She's missing your flip-flops coming down the hall, for instance. That kinda stuff. So....she's gonna be trying again.

I'll write my own message in a sec.

love,
mom

Anyway, just a note to tell you that Mike and I miss ya and we are praying for ya and hope you are having the time of your life. Stay safe and remember we love you and can't wait for you to get back home!

It's Monday afternoon here and kinda rainy. I can't believe you're on the other side of the world. Amazing. But what's even more amazing and harder to believe.....is Linday's mexican food standoff. Don't get me wrong -I know she loves you THAT much. But that's pretty drastic, especially for her. Of course this can only mean one thing - a huge FIESTA when you get home! Guess we can kill the fatted calf as long as we turn it into fajita steak for your queso fondido!

love you love you love you!

hahaha I am laughing so hard. We know some really great people. Seems like it was quite a sacrifice for "wan-dog" to make that post. I love that Wanda Sue. Oh, and I will gladly give Mrs. Billy a hug for you.

Anyway, I thought about you today driving to New Orleans for class. I wanted so badly to call you and bother you like you did me when you were commuting...one of the disadvantages of being your only friend awake at 6 a.m. in the morning. Haha just kidding. Anyway, then I felt encouraged because I thought of you and all that you do and the fact that you do it all for the Lord. I am so excited that you are allowing the Lord to use you this summer.

Just wondering if I was allowed to eat chips while I'm withholding from Mexican food? You decide. Love you, miss you, praying for you. Muah! :)

hope to hear from you soon....just remember God's got your back in everything you do...i know y'all are probably really worn out and tired, but i'll pray that God will multiply your rest and restore your energy and to keep bringing Him the glory..
love y'all so much and miss y'all. give yourslef and matt a HUGE hug for me!!
miss you

Hey again. I'm about to hit the sack, but I just wanted you to know that my specific prayer for you tonight is that you will have an abundant amount of energy and strength today. I know you are at mid-day by now, but I will pray that you will have a little extra charge in whatever you are doing. Just think about that nasty caffeine gum Jordan gave you that time...lol. Mr. Denny and Mrs. Judy asked about you. They are praying for you, too. Good night...or should I say...Good day!

Hey Mitch,

All this talk about international datelines, Mexican food fasts and keeping up with your hectic schedule has my head spinning. If I pray for your energy level today, when does the Lord credit that prayer? I just have to trust Him to work it all out, since it sounds as if He's upholding you in his mighy way anyway. What an inspiration to read and hear about what you're involved over there. Emmanuel at Hurricane is praying regularly and intensely for you and Matt. Granny and I think of you constantly. I note that Lindz is the only Shoumaker taking the no-Mexican vow, and I wonder if hers covers Tex-Mex?

Vaya con Dios,

Pappy

At the time of this writing, it's almost 11:00 PM, which is NOON in your neck-of-the-woods, otherwise known as ___________.

We had a great choir practice tonight, focusing primarilly on the music for the Patriotic Service, which will be on July 1st.

I once heard a preacher named R.F. Gates preach a message at an Evangelism Conference. The sermon was simple, "We must do what can be done, but we cannot do what must be done." Kind of a play on words, but the message was this:

We must tell others about Jesus. We must live for Jesus and introduce lost people to the gospel of Jesus Christ. That's the ..."we must do what can be done" part. WE CAN, AND WE MUST, WITNESS.

The second part is..."we cannot do what must be done." ...the point is that only Jesus can save, it is the work of the Holy Spirit to save, we can't do that part. But we must do what we can do..we must be a witness.

So, remember, WE MUST DO WHAT CAN BE DONE, BUT WE CANNOT DO WHAT MUST BE DONE!!!

DO WHAT CAN BE DONE!
LOVE, DAD
